The ceremony and reception will both take place at Rockaway, a beautiful old home owned by Tim’s grandparents on Vinalhaven, an island off the coast of Rockland, Me. This was where the Conkling/Morehouse family spent every summer. It’s also where Tim’s parents, Philip and Jamien, were married in October 1980.
Vinalhaven is only accessible by ferry, and the closest mainland towns are Rockland, Rockport and Camden. Rockland is, in Tim's dad's words, "younger and hipper," (and close to the ferry terminal) while Camden is a bit more moneyed, with nicer restaurants, and is further away.
Easily accessible mainland accommodations include the Old Granite Inn, The Captain Lindsey House Inn, the Samoset, the Navigator Inn, Lord Camden Inn, Camden Harbour Inn and the Captain Swift Inn. You can also check VRBO or AirBnB (search for listings in Rockland, Rockport, or Camden).
Summer is a popular time to be in Maine, so rentals do get booked up quickly. Best to try to confirm your plans early.
